BBTS Annual Conference 2026 is a substantial transfusion medicine meeting at SEC Glasgow from 15-17 September 2026. The official conference page describes three days of information, inspiration and collaboration, with 24 sessions, more than 80 speakers, workshops, talks, a large exhibition and structured networking.
The programme is especially strong for transfusion practitioners, laboratory teams, cellular therapy, red cell science, components, microbiology, paediatrics, patient blood management, donor work, SHOT, EDI, early career professionals and sustainability. It includes plenaries, SIG sessions, clinical and serology case studies, poster viewing, the BBTS award lectures, the Margaret Kenwright Awards and a final blood supply plenary.
For research-minded trainees and early career professionals, the abstract route is well defined. Abstract submission closed on 15 May 2026, with review outcomes due on 7 July 2026. Accepted work is presented as posters, with up to six Margaret Kenwright Award candidates selected for oral presentations. Accepted abstracts are published in a supplement of the BBTS Journal of Transfusion Medicine, and posters/abstracts are also displayed in the conference app. Presenting authors must register for at least Wednesday 16 September.
Registration is open through the BBTS registration page. Early bird full-conference rates are listed as £473 + VAT for members and £615 + VAT for non-members; one-day and two-day rates are also available. The social programme includes a Monday Curry and Quiz, Tuesday welcome reception, Wednesday 3K/5K run and Wednesday conference dinner at the Crowne Plaza Castle Suite.
