The BSGE exists to improve standards, promote training and encourage the exchange of information in minimal access surgery techniques. The society has over two thousand members passionate about minimally invasive surgery in gynaecology.

Standard Setting
The Society was involved, at the request of the RCOG, with setting general standards for hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures. Best Practice documents are being developed and are available for the benefit of Members and Patients alike.
Educational Courses & Financial Support
BSGE runs and promotes courses in minimally invasive techniques and shares information about educational opportunities for members. Awards and Bursaries are available to help fund further study or obtain travelling fellowships.

BSGE Travelling Fellowship for Doctors in Training
Travelling fellowships and bursaries available for doctors in training with funding up to £1,000 for travel to conferences and educational events.
BSGE Bursaries for Doctors in Training
Educational bursaries for doctors in training to support up to 50% of education costs for courses and modules, with funding up to £500-£1,000.
BSGE Clinical Research Grant
Research grants available to support clinical research projects, with funding up to £1,000-£3,000.
Alan Gordon Travelling Fellowship
Senior travelling fellowship available annually with funding up to £3,200-£4,000 for educational travel and conferences.
Dedicated Awards for Doctors in Training
Awards are specifically categorized for doctors in training with dedicated application rounds held twice yearly (March and September).
